Safety Standards

The team at Lynx Freeride operates with the highest standards in safety and risk management. Through years of operation and the extensive experience of each team member, we have developed a comprehensive approach to safety, with a strong focus on avalanche awareness and mountain rescue for our clients. Our safety training is a year-round commitment, with our team attending courses across Europe to stay current on the latest rescue procedures, equipment, and techniques. Each season begins with an intensive, seven-day training week, ensuring that every team member is fully prepared and trained to respond appropriately in any situation.

This seven-day training includes diverse scenarios such as avalanche rescue, providing aid to injured clients, and performing continuous snow profile assessments across various aspects and exposures. This enables us to gather critical information on the snowpack quality from the very first snowfall of the season.

Throughout the season, our guides regularly update the avalanche forecast and conduct weekly avalanche training for our clients.

Avalanche Safety Training with Guests

On the first skiing day, our guides provide clients with comprehensive avalanche rescue training. This includes guidance on packing and using the avalanche backpack, probe, and shovel, as well as where and why we wear the avalanche transceiver. Clients participate in a search and rescue training scenario, learning the steps for locating and rescuing a buried person. The session covers a detailed breakdown of group searches, individual searches, and fine searches, as well as marking, probing, and efficient shoveling techniques. We also share tips and tricks our team has developed over years of experience.

Daily Checks

Each day, our team will update you on snow and weather conditions, as well as the zones we’ll be riding. A daily check of avalanche transceivers and avalanche backpacks is also conducted before heading out in the field.

Rescue Procedures

As experienced mountain guides and mountain medical rescue experts, we are equipped with advanced medical tools that go beyond the typical first aid kit. Our comprehensive emergency response kits include defibrillators, oxygen cylinders and other specialized medical equipment to ensure the highest level of care in critical situations. Whether you're facing high-altitude challenges or unexpected medical emergencies, our team is prepared to provide swift and effective assistance, ensuring your safety and well-being in the mountains.
Communication among the team and external extra rescue services is carried out via radio, satellite phones and external satellite devices.
